This was published in the Daily Vidette. The war in Iraq was being described as a quagmire, photos of rows and rows of military coffins were all over the news, but the Bush administration redirected the attention of the public to the abortion issue. As though he was trying to remind his conservative Christian constintuency why they should support him. Unfortunately it wouldn't be to the Republican's benefit to ever actually get rid of abortion. Abortion is a useful tool to keep pro-life voters as a reliable constituency. If they were to pass legislation to eliminate abortion, then the pro-lifer's would have no reason to vote for the republicans.
